Why VVVS is better than VVS Elemental? :S - Ragnarok Online Community Chat (2024)

I made Very Very Very Strong Claymore and Very Very Strong Earth Claymore.
I tried both and killed some Kobolds (that are 175% weaker against Earth element).

VVVS makes about 450 damage and VVSE makes about 400 damage.
Isn't supposed that elements are for doing more damage? :S

More damage from having VVVS, I think its +15 DMG with that setup. The math makes that actually do more damage. I agree, I would have thought that VVE would have done more damage. The math in this game doesn't seem to make sense sometimes. :/

I think it also depends on what level of the element the monster is. Usually when a monster is element level 1, using the strong element against them won't be as effective. If they were earth level 4, you would notice a huge boost in damage from the earth property of the sword.

You really just get more bang for your buck by just making a VVVS weapon and then using an Endow or a Mild Wind to supplement the damage.

There are 3 types of Kobolds. You probably attacked Kobold (Mace) which takes 80% damage from Earth. Kobold (Axe) takes 175% damage from earth. I'm just making sure you're not attacking the wrong one !

Are you sure that you are hitting the right kobold? Kobolds vary in element, so only one kind of them is weak to earth. Very very strong damage is like a mastery, so it adds very little to your final damage, unless you are a low low level character who doesn't has much str,dex or luk.

I don't think very strong damage can outdamage element in the right kind of kobold, even if it is level 1 element. Very strong damage is like, +10~ total damage on your attacks..

@Tetsamaru: Masteries aren't affected by endows, so the difference between an endowed VVVS and a VVS+Element weapons would be really low, like 10~20 damage

a vvvs would deal more when endowed since it has the extra v, vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvs is were its at though xD

V V S does more damage to anything Elemental Property 3 & 4
V V V S does more damage to anythign Elemental Property 1 & 2

for the most part

the difference goes down the higher level you get in which the elmental factor calculates much more favorably

+9 V V V S Main Gouche is a phenomenal Novice Weapon

I think so..because we add more ingredients to make it, right?
But maybe more difficult to make it xD

You are attacking the wrong Kobold. VVVS is not stronger than VVS Elemental if the enemy has elemental damage bonuses.

Don't know what the point of being able to make VVVS weapons are since each V really doesn't add much damage.
Sure the last one adds more than the first two, but its still mastery type damage. Whoopy
Eden weapons outshine most of the store bought weapons which by proxy means most of the smithed weapons too unless it has an element, and even if a VVVS low level weapon can outdo some eden weapons I seriously doubt newbies would (or could) pay the price tag on them.

you dont need to dish out a ton of money to make them...

walk around ant hell and pick up iron ore.. bottles and jellopy till you have 40 ore
sell the bottles and jellopy to people buying them

buy the 3 star crumbs 2000z on ygg buy the 40 mini furnaces to make the iron ore into iron
get a nice forger to make the ore and make an attempt at the weapon

bam an attempt at a vvvs main gouche w/o any killing just looting afk alchemist loot and finding a nice forger

for other weapons.. you can convert tsurugi into 10 steel

the only difficult material to find is oridecon

making elemental or vvvs lvl 1 weapons are an investment since you can use them every time you make a new alt or transcend a new char to a fresh lvl 1 high novice

using a +7 VVS Earth Main Gouche i can 1 shot Hornets East of Prontera with even 1 str as long as i have blessing just gotta stay away from those damn thief bugs

You can also 1 shot spores with a +6 VVS Wind Stilletto or a Triple Saharic +6 Stilletto with a wind endow as soon as you are level 12. Even with 1 str as long as you have bless or the VIP buffs

VVVS is actually really good when you upgrade them high enough. I've played with a Priest with a +9 VVVS Stunner + chick hat and do some pretty good damage. Not saying it's the most I could be doing, but it's still good.

I agree completely with HeliosO. Having a VVVS main gauche or elemental main gauches sitting around is a great investment. Been using a full set of +10 VVS Ele main gauches for all my new characters. Makes getting those pesky/boring early levels a snap.
