The Walt Disney Company Has Received 20 Nominations for the 2024 Oscars (2025)

The nominations for the 96th Oscars were announced this morning, and The Walt Disney Company received 20 of those nominations via its branded films.

Congratulations to the teams at Walt Disney Studios, including 20th Century Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., Marvel Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, and Searchlight Pictures, as well as Disney+, Hulu, and National Geographic Documentary Films.

As expected, Searchlight Picture’s “Poor Things” lead the way with 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress in a Leading Role, and Best Director.

Searchlight Pictures also scored one nomination each for “Flamin’ Hot,” and the documentary, “The Last Repair Shop,” while parent company 20th Century Studios earned two nominations for its sci-fi drama “The Creator.”

Pixar got one nomination for “Elemental,” Marvel got one nomination for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” Lucasfilm’s “” received one nomination, National Geographic received one for its “Bobi Wine: The People’s President” documentary, and Disney Docs/Disney Branded Television received a nod for its recently acquired “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó.”

Also surprising to me, Walt Disney Animation’s “Wish” got completely shut out, as did their animated short, “Once Upon a Studio.” And Searchlight Picture’s “All of Us Strangers,” which has received nominations at other film awards this year, didn’t get any Oscar nods.

Actors Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2,” “Joker: Folie à Deux”) and Jack Quaid (“The Boys,” “Oppenheimer“) were on hand to announce the nominees live from The Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater this morning.

The 2024 Oscars will be held live on Sunday, March 10, one hour earlier than normal at 4pm PT/7pm ET on ABC. Jimmy Kimmel is returning as the host for the second consecutive year from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles.

If you want to check out the nominees, most of them are available on streaming. “Elemental,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny,” “Flamin’ Hot,” and “The Last Repair Shop” are all streaming on Disney+. And you can find “The Creator” and “Flamin’ Hot” on Hulu.

Only “Poor Things” is still in theaters, and “Nǎi Nai and Wài Pó” will be in the first installment of the upcoming Disney’s “People and Places” relaunch, a revival of Walt Disney’s documentary film series in the 1950s and 1960s, so it’s currently not available to watch.
